4 Wheel Drive to head the bill at Athy 2012 festival

Multi-award-winning European band 4 Wheel Drive, a favourite with bluegrass audiences in Ireland for a decade, will top the bill at the 22nd Athy Bluegrass Festival.

The Athy festival, founded in 1991, is the longest-running annual bluegrass event in this island. Tony O'Brien, director of the festival since 1998, first booked 4 Wheel Drive in 2001, the first of many appearances the band has made in Ireland. Tony announces that the coming Athy festival will be held on the weekend 13-15 July 2012, located in the GAA Club, Dublin Road, Athy, the venue for several earlier festivals. Full supporting lineup will be announced soon.
