Remembering Monroe on his anniversary

Thanks to Niall Toner for this report on the Niall Toner Band's Carlow concert on 6 Sept. (see the BIB for 4 Sept.), and for the photo, showing the NTB (l-r: Richie Foley, Dick Gladney, Niall Toner jr, Niall sr, Johnny Gleeson) performing 'William Smith Monroe':

I am delighted to say that we had a full house at the Milford Room on Saturday night last, where we remembered Bill Monroe with renditions of 'The Master's resting place', 'Bill Monroe's mandolin', and 'William Smith Monroe'. September 6th was as near as I could book an anniversary gig...

The Father of Bluegrass was born on 13 Sept. 1911 and died on 9 Sept. 1996.  Niall's original composition 'William Smith Monroe' broke airplay records when it was released in the Monroe centennial year, 2011.
